Tiny Castle Kitchen & Dining

2020 - My Response to COVID

The trim, cabinet, and vanity are custom handmade from red oak lumber and veneer-core plywood, featuring soft-close doors and drawers, which also extend fully exposing box joins.  The counters and backsplash are 1-1/8" Solarius granite. The floor is 1/2" slate in a Versailles/French pattern that started the "Castle-y" theme.

The door is steel with a dark oak finish, full length glass in an Augustine pattern with patina accents, and an integrated 4 point locking system. For hardware and accents, we used oil rubbed bronze and copper, which complement the existing fixtures throughout the home. This finish is carried through the sink, hood vent, light fixtures, faucet, switch plates, and cabinet hardware.

Disclaimer: This year was a challenge.  To be clear, my problems are first world in nature, but COVID attracted a couple of buddies and I had already signed up for some home improvement that was, frankly, beyond my skillset at the time.  Aaaaand the floor shows it.  Between substandard installation followed by a water issue, the passion project we were able to live with has aged into a frustrating outstanding item.  That was 4 and half years ago, I've grown.  My tile game is stronger so I'm executing my first do over in '25.  The tile is in the garage!
