The Baroque Minimalist's

    2022

This year dad got to work on Dad's space, which duel purposed as the training montage for doing the main bathroom, The Lady's Sanctuary.  My daughter was a force of nature during the demo on this project and with my wife's help, we were able to do all the work here with no contractor support.

The trim, sills and whiteboard frame are custom handmade red oak.  The doors are oak veneered, solid core with brass Victorian style knobs and face plates that matches the work we did upstairs in 2019.  Keeping with the theme, the floor is an engineered wood product that mimics the 3/4" acacia hardwood upstairs, but is rated to be installed over inground concrete.

Leaning on the timeless aesthetic of elemental materials, the shower, landing, and backsplash are finished in 3/8" travertine with bronze grout.  For hardware and accents, we continued with oil rubbed bronze, which complements the existing fixtures throughout the home. This finish is carried through the shower and sink hardware, tile profiles, and exposed plumbing.

Finally, the Jules Vern vanity is made of the same red oak hardwood as well as black pipe steel.   The pipe is finished in a metallic oil-rubbed bronze, sealed with a clear coat for durability and rust prevention.   It features full extension, soft close drawers, a stone vessel sink, porthole style mirror and an industrial pipe light fixture with LED Edison bulbs to complete the anachronism.
