The Lady's Sanctuary - 2024
According to my daughter this is what happens when kids who play with Lincoln Logs grow up and get adult money...... Having completed the downstairs bathroom as a trial run, we transformed the main floor bath—along with most of an adjoining half bath—into The Lady's Sanctuary.
The trim, cabinet, and vanity (A Bit of Fantasy), are custom handmade from red oak lumber and veneer-core plywood, featuring soft-close doors and drawers. The ¾" x 4¾" acacia flooring is continuous throughout the main level.
Once again we tapped the timeless aesthetic of elemental materials. The shower, landing, and backsplash are finished in ½" travertine with bronze grout, The shower threshold, as well as the inlays in the vanity and bench shelf, were cut from a salvaged piece of Solarius granite originally from the kitchen counters. For hardware and accents, we continued with available tones of bronze and copper, which complement the existing fixtures throughout the home. This finish is carried through the shower and sink hardware, tile profiles, and exposed plumbing.
With the exception of relocating the drains and running the wiring for the lights, we completed this ourselves and it was the final motivation to publish this site!
